yet another rant....

that whole theory of natural selection is completely bogus. technology and lawsuits have prevented nature from taking it's course. instead of dying off stupid people are breading en masse - creating more stupid people.

don't believe me? sit with me at my job for a day. sit with kari at her job for a day. stupid people are everywhere and something really needs to be done about it before i completely lose my mind. i've never had much patience and now i'm bordering on having none. hiding that look of disgust is getting harder and harder with each passing day.

Fixing a Hole

okay. i'm not really fixing a hole. it was just the song that was playing as i signed in to my blog. and it made me feel a little better. which is a good thing.

i really have no idea why i am so cranky today. it's like a switch flipped this morning and BAM - crankiness.

didn't want to go to work. didn't want to see/speak to/deal with/work for/be around people. at all. when i got off work i made myself work out. i figured it would help. it did until it got interrupted by some other girl who thought that it was her turn to use the eliptical. sorry no. my turn. so i went to the grocery store to get a few things we needed. lately they've gotten rid of those handy little baskets. (damn you CUB) i didn't want to push around a whole cart for the few items i was getting. little did i realize that i'd have to stand there juggling 3 packages of crackers, 2 juice bottles, and a tub of sherbert waiting for a bunch of morons to figure out how to use the self check out. it's not that hard. and if you cannot do it then save the sanity of the rest of us and use the regular check out. ah! at that point i found it hard to hide the look of disgust on my face and probably pissed a few people off with my 'look.' like i care. piss off.

it's just one of those days. one of those days where you really could care less if you're being a whiny brat. really could care less if someone out there has it worse off than you. all you care about is the fact that you're pissy and would just like everyone to get out of your way or disapear. ya know? sigh...

i'm trying to perk up and 'fix that hole' but it's really hard. i'm going to go do the eliptical now that it's free. perhaps that'll help. if not i'm just going to make myself a strong drink and watch 'true life' on mtv. hmph.

(oh - the whole day wasn't bad. i did get to talk to carrie. that was good. i miss her though. perhaps chris will want to make the drive up there next weekend)

hope your day was better.

you just cannot be serious....

commercials are rather stupid at times (to say the least)....

take this television ad for Lunesta (a sleep aid). the first ones i saw warned of drowsiness being a side effect. really?

this one tonight really got me though. it actually said 'in cases of walking or driving while asleep consult your doctor immidiately.' oh yes - thank you. as soon as i wake up from plowing my car into a tree (because i was alseep) and provided i don't die in the process (or kill anyone else) i'll be sure and call my doctor (who proscribed me this wacky meds) right away.

sigh.

and with that i am off to sleep. non- medicated sleep.

HAPPY 28th VIJA!

(this is the actual picture you'll get when you type in Vija's Birthday)

Happy 28th Birthday Vija!

this blog is dedicated to you VibaJiba.

i am so happy that we've met. we share the same sense of sarcasm. i can tell you disturbing bathroom stories and you still talk to me. (that didn't come out sounding good....not that it really could i guess...). i'm extremely happy that you've learned to crochet and get a blog!

i am extremely sorry that i'm a shit friend. i knew it was your birthday today. i sent you a work birthday card! when i called you this morning you probably assumed it was to say 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY!' - but no - it was just me asking for more envelopes. i then proceeded to sit through an entire lunch break with you and say nothing. well - we talked but i still didn't say anything birthday related. only at around 3 when i read your blog did i remember - ACK! i'm an ass.

sorry.

to make up for it i'm bringing you some treats. :)

Exactly!

today is just one of those days. bleh bleh bleh bleh bleh bleh.....

the kind where the dumbest little things want to make you pull your hair out and spit. or cock your head sideways and stick out your tongue at someone.....either way....

reasons....

a company this large should have a computer server that functions at a pace faster than roadkill.

i've said it once and i'll say it again - christmas is just that - Christmas. Chanukah is Chanukah. etc. etc. when you have window decorations that have a penguin dressed in a santa hat with a red and white scarf and a candy cane it should be called a CHRISTMAS decoration and not a "holiday" decoration. i know not one Jewish person who would use this decor to celebrate Chanukah. i also do not know one Jewish person who is offended that we call that decorated pine tree a Christmas tree instead of a "holiday" tree. i'm all for making people feel included but that's just plain dumb, am i wrong? say 'Happy Holiday's!' to people - that's great! but call the damn decorations what they are for crying out loud.

i cannot stand people who do not flush the toilet when they're done. if you can't flush it then don't use the damn toilet. go outside in the bush.

woman - you do not come with a penis and therefore you should not pee on the toilet seat (nor should men but at least i can semi understand it - although seriously - it's NOT a fire hose - control it)! i just do not realize how they do this! if you scared to sit on the seat and spray - have the decency to clean up your mess - or once again - go outside in the bush.

when someone smiles at you and says hi - at least acknowlege them.

if you are dumb enough to use your hair dryer in the tub, reheat your pizza in it's box in your oven, smoke, or use a screwdriver that's on to scratch your nose - you deserve the consequenses and should not be allowed to sue. you're dumb.

if you cannot make a turn going over 5 mph or drive over 20 mph than you should have your driving license taken away.

if you think you're question might be stupid (and trust me - it is) than you should probably wait until after the meeting to ask it so as not to make your co-workers sit and suffer through it as well.

does one city really need 2 stations to play around the clock christmas music? no.

alright - back to work.

p.s. thank for all your kitty litter suggestions :)

Argh (to infinity)

so you may have noticed (or not) that i didn't post yesterday - screwing up the whole NaBloPoMo thing.....

it wasn't a bad day or a hectic day. i sat down at the end of it to blog and tried getting this one little picture i had taken to show up in one of the programs i have to crop and photoshop it etc....

the program would show it in the 'to be imported' section. i would click 'import'. the picture would NOT show up - anywhere. it was driving me up the wall. i may have over reacted. okay i did. hard to believe i know. but when you spend over x amount on a fancy computer and it won't do something as simple as import a photograph it really starts to piss me off. luckily chris was around (although i'm sure he would rather have been elsewhere) and the computer did not go sailing out the window.

instead we went to bed. i woke up and deleted said program from computer. i reinstalled it afresh and low and behold it still will not recognize that dinky picture.

i am not a technologized person and therefore dealing with it sometimes causes my blood pressure to rise...a lot. although i have no idea where i got this temper of mine ((cough...dad...cough))......

sigh......

Could it be.......?

for some reason the gods have decided to smile upon me and let me post a blog! praise the lord and pass the ammunition!

it all started a few weeks ago. or was it a few ago. i'm not quite sure.....

when i started my job i had one computer (with two lovely screens). this computer belonged to the department upstairs* on the 3rd floor. that department was formerly in charge of my current position. that computer was wonderful. it was speedy. it was sleek. and most importantly - it had unrestricted internet access! then the department that is currently in charge of my position decided that i needed one of their computers. in came this dirty cream ancient peice of equipment - complete with leftover sticky globs from the last poor soul who used it. no parts of the computer matched. (i'm positive that they found them in some dark corner of the basement). not only was this computer unpleasent to look at it - it lacked speed. it also forbid me to check my e-mail and so forth. but as luck would have it - no one from upstairs came to claim the nice computer! so - although my desk was cramped with 3 monitors i was content.

then - a few weeks ago - the time came when the people upstairs ventured down to claim their property. it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. one of my co-workers introduced me to crocheting and i love it! (not only that but i'm allowed to do it at work! - my boss's words - 'gotta do something to keep yourself from going insane') so i passed the time by reading and crocheting and other such things that one would normally not associate with having a job.....

a few days after this chris's computer died. we brought over my semi-new computer that had just been collecting dust at kristin's. it didn't work! we finally figured out it all out and got it running but the internet is SO FUCKING SLOW that it's not even worth your time to try using it. checking e-mail is a chore. and if by some miracle it lets me check - it won't let me respond. myspace is a fading memory. facebook has been nice but i never really use that account. blogging - again - not worth the time.

so - i've been going through a bit of internet withdrawl. but it appears as though i'm back (to the blogging world at least!)

i'm glad it (the computer) finally let me have access to the blogging world. i'm in that 'inbetween books stage'. i just finished Reading Lolita in Tehran by Azar Nafisi (litterally about 20 minutes ago) and am still thinking and digesting it (i'm not one to offer critics really. i'll either recommend the work or not. this is definitely one that i would recommend) i have another book to start but i'm just not ready yet.

chris and i leave for vacation in 4 days (not counting today). we've never taken a trip together and i'm excited to get away with him. to show him places from my childhood. to introduce him to family and friends. and of course - the zoo. for some reason i'm extremely excited to spend the day with him at the zoo. call me a dork :)

alright. i have more to say but it will have to wait. right now i'm ready to start the next book - The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood.

*this whole upstairs thing seems to confuse people. i had yet another person ask me if the 3rd floor was upstairs! really? how did you manage to get out of bed and even find your way here.....

Blurred Vision

You thought I was an idiot before - think again!

(i really need to work on getting more sleep. lack of it can cause the following....)

i wear contacts. i wear them daily. you'd think i'd be able to do it correctly. well....

this morning i put in the first contact. fine. i put in the second contact. fine. then it got extremely blurry. i took it out. then i noticed the other eye wasn't seeing correctly - it was all out of focus like there was no contact. i thought it had possibly rolled back - so i attempted to find it. i couldn't. i got nervous. then i realized that although i had taken out the second contact i could still see clearly out of that eye.

my dumbass put both contacts on ONE eyeball!

i've been wearing contacts for over a decade and have never done this. sigh...

On Second Thought.....

While it has been proven that I am an idiot....some people are....well...judge for yourself :)

(keep in mind that my desk is on the ground level)

Girl: 'How do I register for this class?'
Me: 'You'll want to head up to the 3rd floor and talk to ---'
Girl: 'Is that upstairs?'

Insurance Schminsurance!

there's no other way to put it.

i am an idiot.

i started my job the last week of May. I had until August 1st to sign up for health insurance (really good health insurance btw). Did I do this? Of course not! That would have required some amount of brain activity to occur.....

argh.

Having realized my ghastly error I attempted to call around and see if it were possible to get this problem fixed (it wasn't). This was frustrating - especially when you are talking to people who treat you like a moronic 2 year old. But...seeing as how this whole mess was my own doing...and seeing as how I did show the mental capabilities of a moronic 2 year old...I squashed any anger I felt (at least outwardly...I felt like CRAP on the inside...)

Then my co-worker came down to give me my break - I told her about my stupidity. She then provided me with glorious news - our place of employment is switching health care providers (to make it the same all across the board)! This change will take place January 1st and open enrollment will begin in October! I'll have insurance! Granted - I could have had it already but waiting 4 months is WAY better than waiting an entire year!

So - I'm relieved. Very relieved. And you best bet I won't be missing this new deadline!
