great skiens of yarn!

dear god,

today i discovered heaven. yarn heaven. it was beautiful. so incredibly beautiful. please send me lots of cash so i can return to yarn heaven many times. it would be very awesome of you. thanks.

love,

michelle

a bit much you say? well - then you've never been to yarn heaven. up until this point in my knitting/crocheting adventures i've stuck to the basics - michael's and joann's. they've been wonderful for someone with a yarn addiction on a budget. today however - i let myself wonder into the local (non-chain)
yarn store and well....it was heaven.

shelves upon glorious shelves of glorious marvelous yarn! tons of cute storage containers for all your supplies! i fell in love (if you couldn't tell). i managed to only let myself leave with enough yarn for a current project i'm working on - but it was tough. i could see myself going into some serious debt there (which needs to not happen...must save money not spend money!)

so yeah - that's my story for the day. i fell in love with yarn heaven. oh - and isn't the picture below a cool idea? i'd love to have a craft room and do something like this....

p.s. i'm currently accepting donations to support my addiction. please and thank you.

p.p.s. i have a few posts from the past week(end) to actually post...hopefully i'll get around to it soon....

Bone Broke

as you may have gathered from the previous post i am not in the best of moods. i'm extremely frustrated.

frustrated because....

- i did what i was supposed to, right? i went to college. i earned a degree. i got a full time job with benefits. but after all my bills are payed each month i have basically nothing left over for food or gas.

- i haven't been able to help chris out with the rent. it makes me feel awful. i feel like a huge mooch.

- banks charge me $68.00 dollars for a measly $10.00 'oops adventure' into the negative.

- i just realized that i pay almost a hundred dollars in interest per car payment. wtf??

- i have to start a 401k and an IRA - but with what exactly i'm not sure....

- my paychecks are basically gone the day i get them.

- my mouth is falling apart and insurance will only cover half the costs. granted it's half and i'm thankful but i cannot afford the other half.

- my phone is dying. i need a new one. too bad my money tree died.

it's just so damn irritating. and the whole crap of it is is that i was just coming to terms with it. fine. i'll have debt. at least i'm happy. i have a great family and friends and with them i'll never end up homeless. but this whole taking almost seventy fucking dollars out of my account just pushed me over. i needed that to pay bills. needed it.

i have a car payment each month. i have insurance on that car. i have my own insurance. i have a credit card payment (which i had to get in the first place becuase i couldn't afford to pay my car insurance while i was looking for a job). i have a computer payment. and yes - after this i have about $30 left over. $30 to buy gas, groceries, and oh yeah - start that 401K and IRA with. seriously....

how the crap am i ever going to be able to afford a house. a wedding. a baby. - hell - food. gas.

i need to make more money. i need to look for a job that pays more money. but oh yeah - can't fit into the my interview clothes yet! and oh yeah - can't buy more interviews clothes that fit becuase i'm fucking broke.

piss it.

Another Reason....

...why banks continue to suck ass.....

i understand i went negative in my checking account. i also understand that i deposited money to cover it that same day. must you still charge me a $68.00 service fee??

oh yes - that's right. you must because you suck.

the other reason banks suck.

Biggest Loser

no - not the TV show. anyone can lose weight when you have 24 hours a day in which to concentrate soley on that purpose - not to mention the personnal trainers at your side. but i digress....

here at work a group has started their own 'Biggest Loser' contest. each participant contributes $20 to the pot and then at the end (i guess the people who organized the contest actually watch the show becuase our contest will end the day the show ends) whoever has lost the largest percent of their body weight wins the pot! i'm in!

i'll take whatever motivation i can get! and seeing as how i just (this past thursday) starting working out again it should be fun! if you read my blog you've probably noticed that i've just started working out a lot - but this time i can feel it sticking. the weather has finally cooled off and i no longer sweat at the mere thought of the treadmill. plus i discovered a wonderous invention - the iPod.

chris has an iPod shuffle that he uses when working out and i never paid much attention to it until i started using the treadmill again. i love to (need to) workout to loud music and am not able to do that living in an apartment. now i can! he showed me how to upload music onto it and what not and then we went and bought a pair of normal headphones (i just cannot do those ear bud thingies) and now i'm set. i love it!

and i'm going to kick ass in this contest - not only could i stand to lose that weight but i could also use the extra cash :)

I'll mention it again - I have set up a private blog (Motivation for Movement) for those needing encouragement or a place to just share their experiences on the exercise/weight-loss(or gain) roller coaster. It seems to have been forgotten about as of late but it's been a busy summer. I - however - am going to start posting again and invite anyone who'd like to join me to do so! Just send me message and I'll send you the invite :)

movin' on up!

wahoo

movin' on up..
finally got a piece of the pie!!

that's right ladies and gents - the wait is over. weeks of borrowing are over. the interview jacket can go back on it's hanger. i can stop hating map quest for getting me lost. i can stop writing those self-pity blogs (well..maybe...).

i am officially employed

isn't it exciting? isn't it grand? i happen to think so :)

i actually just interviewed for the job this morning and got the call about an hour ago :)

some perks about the position - it pays. the hours do not fall into the bumper to bumper rushes that i loathe. it's pretty darned close to my residence. and oh yea - did i mention it pays?

money money money....i am going to have money money money!

Takeout for Two

Been awhile since my last post....well...not that long but a lot has happened since!

I am not at my own computer however, and am not able to upload the pictures from this weekends festivities! So...tomorrow I promise an update (to the whole two people who actually read this :) Hi Carrie and Kari!) - when I have access to my own camera's pictures and not just my camera phone pictures!

As for now I'm just waiting for Chris to get back from his EMT class so we can eat our traditional weekend (well, I guess it's Monday) meal of salad rolls and Pad Thai :) (and wine of course - can't forget the wine!)

Hmmm....I'm kinda bored so I guess I'll just give a hint of what is to come - Happy Hour pics from my last day of work! Pictures from my friend Sherri's wedding!

Yesterday and today have been rather mellow. I tried to make dinner for Chris - a spicy tomato bisque soup - and it turned out like it was supposed to but I wasn't happy with it. I'm not a big tomato soup fan at all but we had a really really good bowl of it at Amazing Grace and I wanted to try and duplicate it - not successful.

Today we went for a walk and I wish I had taken some pictures - it was so nice out! Now I'm just sitting here waiting to eat. I went and got the dinner and then saw that there was an Old Navy close by. Now - I really don't have money to be spending but I thought I would look just to pass some time. And I left with two pairs of flip flops (you can never have too many pairs and at 2 for $5 - really...how could I pass them up?) I also took a chance and tried on two swimsuits. This has never been a good thing as I usually end up leaving in a huff about how bad they look on me. But tonight was different - they both looked good! I ended up choosing the black one and it's adjustable so that's good! :)

Okay...I think I'm going to go read for a bit. He should be home soon :)

Shipping Out

by Wilfred Bibeau

There are many pieces of art at my place of employment. Some are certainly of questionable taste. This one, however, is one that I like. It sits behind my desk at work and from that vantage point it looks like a photograph. It just so happens that the painter stopped in today. He is an old man wearing a Jack Daniels cap and is hard of hearing -but very nice. I mention how much I like it and (suprise!) he has prints of it in his car which he happily went down and got for me. So for $30 I ended up buying it. It'll be a nice thing to have if life takes me away from Minnesota one day.
