More Dress Shopping!

my mom is on her way down to visit as i type. she managed to get tomorrow and friday off of work and both days will be filled with dress shopping! (i also managed to fanagle leaving my 12pm each day! although i do wonder how they'll be able to manage without me doing my crossword puzzle book at the front desk.....)


i am very excited! i went shopping this past weekend with a co-worker of mine (she volunteered to my surrogate mother for all wedding related needs and i took her up on it :)) and think i may have found the one. so i called my mom right away and she's on her way!


alright - that is all that is going on in my neck of the woods. i'm off to play some cribbage with my sweetie until mom gets here :) more later!

saturday..in the park...

..i think it was the 4th of july....


no? not a big chicago fan? okay....


it's not the 4th of july anyhow. it's the 23rd of february....and today chris and i took a little drive to red wing. (they're very well known for their pottery) he'd only driven through it and i'd never been so it seemed like a good place to go. that i heard that they had a lot of antiques (i heart antinques).


it was a great day - not too cold and not too windy. we walked around the downtown area and looked in a bunch of different shops. we had a really good lunch at a cute little tavern. it was a fun trip. the only thing that would have made it better would have been seeing a friend who lives there but she was out of town...


after red wing we ran a few errands - including target. but as we walked around gathering up things we didn't need an announcement came that we had to leave the store. chris had his pager on him and so we heard what was going on - someone smelled natural gas. so we left and i dropped him off at the station just in time for him to make the second truck out there. then i went back to a bookstore nearby and took a picture....


about an hour later they re-opened the store. you could still smell gas which wasn't very comforting. i guess this about the 3rd or 4th call they've gotten about this - you think target would fix the problem. ah well. the lady at the checkout counter told us that apparently no one told the pharmacy staff to leave - and when the pharmacy closed down it was during that time when everyone had been forced to leave the store. so the pharmacy staff walks out into what an abandoned store - shopping carts full of goods were left in the middle of isles. how creepy would that be?

day 2 of hell.

day 2 of hell and i'm still here. i feel a ton better although due to reasons that i won't go into (i'm not that disgusting) i didn't do much today.
i ate ice-cream for breakfast. (yum!) i made an emergency trip to Target to pick up cat litter supplies as the cats destroyed and/or made a mess of their current ones. made another trip later in the day to get even more stuff. we got the wrong litter on one of our last trips and it does not clump the pee - disgusting and SO smelly! so we got the right stuff along with a plug-in air freshner for the bathroom (thank god!). i bought a lot of Valetine's day 50% off items - my favorite being these red heart shower curtain hooks. they add the finishing touches to my bathroom that has a yellow (cheap plastic because the kitties will claw it) shower curtain and red bath mat :) i also got the cats a new Easter placemat for the food bowls along with 2 Easter food dishes. i know they could care less but I love doing it and the stuff is only a $1.99 - how can i not?
aside from spending too much money at Target i finished the second bear! (i'll have these christmas - yes christmas - gifts in the mail by Tuesday! wahoo!! i'll post pictures then :)) other than that - not a whole lot. very relaxing.
and now it's time to go whoop chris's butt in cribbage. (don't be too jealous of all the excitement in my life now....)

yes - company is gone and it's now nap time!


that isn't to say that i didn't enjoy the company - i loved having megan and carter here (and nathan and mandy)! but like i said - i'm a champion late sleeper and chris and his sis are not. we had a good day though - got up early to meet nathan and mandy over in mpls for breakfast. (the place we ate - i found out the barista's make more than i do by almost an entire dollar - wtf?) after that we did a lil bit of shopping - bad idea when it is absolutely fucking cold! seriously - we walked less than a block and my face was in severe pain! ow! one of the places we stopped was robot love - where mandy works. i'm addicted to those darned zipper pulls and keychains. argh. i suppose there are worse things i could be addicted to though, right?


alright - sorry to cut this short but i'm very sleepy and my bed is calling me......

Making a List...

i've been rather absent from the blogging world it seems.....

we've been getting situated in the new place and getting ready for Christmas. i have a ton of pictures to post but haven't gotten around to uploading them yet. who knows when it will happen...

i've already determined that gifts (at least some of them) are going to be late. i had high hopes of crocheting/knitting something for everyone but that quickly fell apart. i had counted on all that free time at work and then BAM - they gave me stuff to do! who knew?! then the moving took away more than a week of my cozy nights sitting on working so.....yeah.... but i'm not getting stressed. this is my absolute favorite time of the year and if they gifts are late - they're late. if people get mad

(which i'm sure they won't) then that's too bad.

i also need to make time for baking - i LOVE to bake this time of year :) i already have a list a mile long of all the ingredients i'll need :)

tonight chris and i went shopping. we finally sat down this past weekend and made a list of everyone we're buying for and what we're buying them. and for the most part we got it all done which makes me happy. that and going out and buying buying buying always makes me happy - which isn't great i guess - but oh well :) we found some really cute stuff so i'm excited :)

and now that it's almost bedtime i'm off to have some dinner :)

oh - christmas cards will be going out soon! if you think i don't have your address (and just to be safe - assume i don't) e-mail it to me! and if you want to send me one (:)) e-mail me as well :)

p.s. i hate the spacing on this. it just mushed everything i typed into one lump and won't fix it. argh.

why walk when you can LEAP

i would have posted last night but the cable internet guys arrived after the office closed and therefore they could not get into the cable room. hopefully they'll be back tonight before it closes again. hmph.

in reference to the title - i like to be different. i like to make a grand entrance. so instead of walking into the front door of the new apartment building i leaped. well....i tripped.

everything i was holding went sprawling and i skidded across the rug. OW! both of my legs are all scuffed up. one required an extra large bandage and it hurts like a son of a.....OW! and to make matters worse chris and a co-worker were still moving things in - i was rather useless. all the bandages were packed in who knows where. then we had to wait for the pokey internet people. finally - about 3 hours later - we managed to get to Target and get some bandages and antiseptic spray stuff (that made the pain even worse....) sigh.... i'm dumb.

i almost fell again later that night but luckily managed to catch myself. good god.

so that was my night :) other than that - we have most of the stuff in. few more trips to make. hopefully i can get it straightened before Friday when my dad arrives with the kitties :)

speaking of cats - i have a question about litter for you cat owners. have any of you used the flushable kind? i also saw this box of litter at Trader Joe's - says it's a one month supply and that the pee doesn't clump but rather dissovles into the crystal littler. So then you could just scoop and flush the poo I guess. I just hate the idea of putting litter into plastic bags and then having them end up in a landfill, ya know? Any advice?

Black Friday

i spent most of black friday at work - wahoo! some of my co-workers actually got up this morning at 4am! crazies......

i hadn't planned on doing any shopping myself but as the day wore on and i heard about more and more deals i just had to go and take a peek....

yeah...that "peek" cost me more than i planned. now (after i finish this post) i'll go search through the bags and see what needs to be returned :)

but really - how can you pass up on movies when they cost $3.98? that's cheaper than renting them! i only have one more shopping trip to do tomorrow (besides the returns) and that's to the yarn store - i have a great coupon and i have to use it, right?

oh! i have one more thing to add to my 'thankful for' list: i am thankful that i no longer work in retail. i saw the looks of the workers - even though they were polite and smiled you could see it in their eyes that they wanted to wonk you over the head with something....(tis why i never listened to my mother when she nagged me to get a job at kohls. i would have gone insane)

and with that - it's time to show chris the loot (he's very excited :))

Takeout for Two

Been awhile since my last post....well...not that long but a lot has happened since!

I am not at my own computer however, and am not able to upload the pictures from this weekends festivities! So...tomorrow I promise an update (to the whole two people who actually read this :) Hi Carrie and Kari!) - when I have access to my own camera's pictures and not just my camera phone pictures!

As for now I'm just waiting for Chris to get back from his EMT class so we can eat our traditional weekend (well, I guess it's Monday) meal of salad rolls and Pad Thai :) (and wine of course - can't forget the wine!)

Hmmm....I'm kinda bored so I guess I'll just give a hint of what is to come - Happy Hour pics from my last day of work! Pictures from my friend Sherri's wedding!

Yesterday and today have been rather mellow. I tried to make dinner for Chris - a spicy tomato bisque soup - and it turned out like it was supposed to but I wasn't happy with it. I'm not a big tomato soup fan at all but we had a really really good bowl of it at Amazing Grace and I wanted to try and duplicate it - not successful.

Today we went for a walk and I wish I had taken some pictures - it was so nice out! Now I'm just sitting here waiting to eat. I went and got the dinner and then saw that there was an Old Navy close by. Now - I really don't have money to be spending but I thought I would look just to pass some time. And I left with two pairs of flip flops (you can never have too many pairs and at 2 for $5 - really...how could I pass them up?) I also took a chance and tried on two swimsuits. This has never been a good thing as I usually end up leaving in a huff about how bad they look on me. But tonight was different - they both looked good! I ended up choosing the black one and it's adjustable so that's good! :)

Okay...I think I'm going to go read for a bit. He should be home soon :)
