TTLIFF!

that translates to - Thank The Lord It's Finally Friday! (tgif seemed rather dull...)

i'm seriously so happy that the weekend is here! not the work was stressful or anything but who doesn't prefer two days off over going to work? that and i have some plans for the weekend :) tomorrow chris and i are going to a 'stitch & bitch' at holly's house. (not my chris - a friend chris) i'm really excited - i've been wanting to get a group of gals together to do this since i moved down here. (i miss our knitting nights carrie!) perhaps i'll host a few sessions at my place as i know of a few co-workers who are also interested.....

as for tonight chris's (my chris) sister megan and her son carter are coming over. in fact (since i started this blog right before they arrived) they are here now! megan is attempting to put carter to sleep. she put him down in my room but i'm worried that albus hid under the bed. albus and minvera are not the biggest fan of small beings. i'm sure - given time - that they would be. it just takes them time. albus* hated chris for about a week when they first arrived. so yeah - they are here and will be for the weekend. unfortunately megan has a bit of a cold so her and i might just chill while chris takes carter out and about tomorrow...we'll see....

we just got done watching peter pan. i bought a copy before christmas when i saw it was out. but they remastered it. i really really prefer the hand drawn charm of the older version - anyone know of how i can get an old - non-remastered - copy on dvd?

alright - i think carter is asleep. megan and i are going to watch 'the shining.' i've never seen it and she says i have to :)

*i was watching ellen today (of cours) and she was talking about her pets. her cat liked to sleep up my her head and she attributed this to the fact that he was part abyssinian and those breeds were more dog like. i was intrigued becuase i and a lot of other people have said that albus is more dog like. he isn't a lap cat but constantly has to be at your side and walking along with you wherever you go. he plays fetch (i'm not kidding - he will walk back with whatever you throw - he prefers balled of socks - and trot back to you and drop them in your hand). and he has to sleep at my head. i did some researching and it also mentioned the fact that abyssinian's can have defects that cause them to groom themselves compulsively - leaving bald spots. albus does not do this but he does obsessivley lick any and all surfaces he comes in contact with. his favorites are skin (he will lick you and lick you and lick you - i swear if you let him he'd like a layer off....) - he's always licking my legs, and plastic bags. he will not stop licking plastic bags. ay yi yi! minerva is the same way about the skin thing. they're weird. but at least now i may know why...

uh oh - carter is up! gotta go.....

saturdays = ...............

saturdays =

shit - i woke up too late - but not shit becuase i finally got to sleep in....

crap - i need to exercise badly but have zero energy and zero willpower and would rather stare at the t.v. and be depressed about the state of humanity based on 'bret michael's - rock of love'

okay - getting motivated. paid rent (well - dropped of chris's check for rent). paid cable bill. charged ipod. must start to clean............

i love weekends but often find that without concrete deadlines i'm worthless. when i know i have the whole day to do things - they probably won't get done. i'll wait until the last minute and then start to panick that i didn't get anything done. sigh....
so starting now (even though - yes - it is 1pm - better late than never, right?) i'm going to clean. must clean. if time is left over i'll exercise. then i must finish hat orders. ipod is charged up and ready to go....

Habanero Beer

that's right. habanero beer. mmmmmmmm......sort of.....

chris and i had dinner last night at Hell's Kitchen with his friends Don and Anita. the menu was pretty decent (great sweet potato fries!) and the drink selection was great. don and chris were curious about the spicy beer and asked for a sample. it was good. not hot - just a hint of pepper at the back of the throat. don went with guiness while chris ordered a pint of the special stuff. yeah. the sample was more than enough. once you start drinking a pint it gets to be a little much....

after dinner we headed out to dublin's to play pool. i think that's the first time we've been "out" with another couple in...well..let's just say a looooooong time! it was fun though. i had a great time and look forward to seeing them again (hopefully) soon :) carrie and steve met us for a drink as well. it was great to see them but the new parents were a wee bit tuckered (can't imagine why....) and turned in early. we turned in not too long after - getting old sure is a bitch....

today we headed down to see the start of the 25th Annual John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon. i remember going to see this once in highschool but this time it was better. i was closer and we had a camera (i'll post the pictures tomorrow). i love seeing all the dogs in their little footies :)

later we headed over to see carrie and the baby. i just got to sit and hold the little one for about 2 hours and it was wonderful! (tick tock tick tock) it was times like that i really miss living in duluth (well - i miss it every time we go up for a visit...). being able to just go over and say hi and hang out. plus now with the baby - i could just go over and sit and hold her all the time....

alright - i'll post more about the weekend tomorrow. right now it's late. i'm tired. we're tired. it's sleepy time..........

Talkin' Bout Last Night

here are some pictures from our evening.

as i mentioned - kristin had come over. she brought a lovely bottle of Arbor Mist ( i don't care what you say - it's cheap and tastes like sweet).

chris worked on our cat scratching post. this is the 3rd thing he's built for the cats (1st being the kennel, 2nd being this cardboard scratching square). he'll never admit to loving them but i think it's fairly obvious that he does :) he's worried that it looks rather 'white trash' right now but it's not finished. we need to stabalize it some more. get some more twine. and some carpet remnants. (speaking of - does anyone know where to get those carpet sample squares. i asked at Home Depot last night but the guy was extremely rude and snotty and said no). the cats love it so far though. they scratch the twine (which is SO much better than scratching the couch!) and argue over who gets the top perch (only one hitting fight though).

later on we played Monopoly. for those of you who do not know - i love this game. love it. i have about eight million and one different versions. somewhere along the line it become the family joke to buy me a new one each year and then refuse to play it with me. ha ha. so funny. last night we played the Rudolph version - the first time it's been openend despite the fact that i've owned it for more than 2 years! i lost. i came in third. (see chris - i can admit it). we tried to make it more interesting by having the rule that each time you were sent to jail you must take a sip of Maker's Mark bourbon. (i don't know how people aquire a taste for that stuff....). luckily i only went to jail once :)

alright. time for breakfast. chris got me a cinnamon role on his way home from a call this morning. what a sweetie.

January 12th, 2008

today has turned out to be pretty good.

it's the first weekend in a long time that chris and i have both have off and had absolutely no plans. we slept in together. ate breakfast together. and when we were both ready we went out and did some shopping.

i had to stop by the sprint store as my phone is dying (yay! one more thing i have to buy!) then we had chipotle (yyyyuuuuummmm!). after that we headed off to see juno. extremely good movie! i cried

i might have time to write more later but right now i should go. kristin is over. she's bored watching me blog and as a result has started to break my belongings :)

the above picture is of chris working on a cat scratching post stand thingamabobber. isn't he a sweetheart? right now he's actually off to home depot to grab some more twine :)

He LOVES Goldfish!

can't you tell??
today was rather laid back - and that was nice. it's been awhile since chris and i have been both home and had no real plans. i woke up insanely late though due to those damned meds i take for my ears. since our vacation it's been this way - i take one and not only does it knock me out for the night but also the next day. it was a chore to move my body today. yuck!
i did manage to move it though and we headed over to stillwater to poke around. i love that town - super cute! on our way home though we encountered this...

really? really?

sigh......

and now we're going to watch a movie. i'm going to crochet. i'm turning into my mother! not that she crochets while watching movies but she always has to be doing something which used to drive me insane! 'mom - you have to watch the movie!' and now i can't sit and watch a movie/tv without having something in my hands. ah well...

you and me sunday driving....

this picture was supposed to be on the bottom but i can't figure out how to get it there
do you understand this?

chris and i spent the day relaxin' - it was (still is) splendid......

i woke up wanting bacon eggs toast and french toast. we didn't have any of that in the apartment. so we hopped in the car and headed to the New Louisiana Cafe in St. Paul. we stumbled upon it and february and it's awesome. the first time was a shocker - they have LARGE servings - now we know just to split - even then you're still stuffed for the rest of the day. but it's worth it :)

after eating we headed out to Minnehaha Park and took a little stroll - it was beautiful!

lean on me
i'm sure he won't appreciate me posting this but i love it!

we saw this boat on the way home - well we heard it before we saw it as it's large organ was playing! it looked awesome though and we now want to take a paddle boat ride down the Mississippi

it's been a lovely day thus far. now we're going to make some thai salad rolls and watch a movie. hope you all had a good weekend :)

p.s. i had a good day yesterday as well - i just got extremely frustrated at the computer while attempting to get photos ready for posting and just gave up before i ruined my night. technology makes me angry sometimes. (i know you all find that hard to believe...i'm normally oh-so-laid-back)

Takeout for Two

Been awhile since my last post....well...not that long but a lot has happened since!

I am not at my own computer however, and am not able to upload the pictures from this weekends festivities! So...tomorrow I promise an update (to the whole two people who actually read this :) Hi Carrie and Kari!) - when I have access to my own camera's pictures and not just my camera phone pictures!

As for now I'm just waiting for Chris to get back from his EMT class so we can eat our traditional weekend (well, I guess it's Monday) meal of salad rolls and Pad Thai :) (and wine of course - can't forget the wine!)

Hmmm....I'm kinda bored so I guess I'll just give a hint of what is to come - Happy Hour pics from my last day of work! Pictures from my friend Sherri's wedding!

Yesterday and today have been rather mellow. I tried to make dinner for Chris - a spicy tomato bisque soup - and it turned out like it was supposed to but I wasn't happy with it. I'm not a big tomato soup fan at all but we had a really really good bowl of it at Amazing Grace and I wanted to try and duplicate it - not successful.

Today we went for a walk and I wish I had taken some pictures - it was so nice out! Now I'm just sitting here waiting to eat. I went and got the dinner and then saw that there was an Old Navy close by. Now - I really don't have money to be spending but I thought I would look just to pass some time. And I left with two pairs of flip flops (you can never have too many pairs and at 2 for $5 - really...how could I pass them up?) I also took a chance and tried on two swimsuits. This has never been a good thing as I usually end up leaving in a huff about how bad they look on me. But tonight was different - they both looked good! I ended up choosing the black one and it's adjustable so that's good! :)

Okay...I think I'm going to go read for a bit. He should be home soon :)

Last Sunday Goodbye

Chris & I
(yes, my chin is missing but I still like it)

Cool Tree at the Como Zoo

Tiger

I'm dating an incredible cook!

Just a few pictures from my weekend :)

It was wonderful - as usual :) Managed to pack in a play (Disney's 'High Schoo Musical' - very Disney but still good - my friend Brian was in it so it was fun to see him perform!), a wonderful dinner at Tum Rup Thai, a trip the Como Park Zoo and a homeade dinner courtesy of Chris! Very good - especially that dinner - doesn't the picture make you hungry?

Just two more weeks and my weekend excursions will be a thing of the past! This was also my last Sunday goodbye - very very happy about that!
